FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Seth studies Scripture by reading the verses in isolation, then the full chapter to really see the surrounding context. Seth then finds other supporting passages and cross-references with other passages and this is called Systematic Theology. Seth also tries to always connect a doctrine in the Old Covenant (OC) and New Covenant (NC) texts.
When Seth faces confusion in a passage, Seth tends to reference the original languages to see what words the texts actually use and what those words mean in the original languages as the English language tends to muddy up word choice and make interpretation confusing.
The most crucial hermeneutic that Seth strictly follows is this: Scripture is always above tradition and Scripture interprets Scripture. Seth believes that if you bring forth a false doctrine, you will eventually be shown in another area of Scripture. Seth does not defer to tradition or history, but one simple question: What do the Scriptures say?
-
Yes, Seth believes in the Five Solas. Though, Seth finds the clarification of each point wise so that no one can make assumptions.
Scripture Alone (Sola Scriptura) is the obvious one; Scripture Alone means Scripture is the supreme authority over all tradition, councils, churches, elders, deacons, etc.
Faith Alone (Sola Fide) is a major one; Seth believes that while faith and works are two distinct things, faith and works are impossible to be separate. So when Seth says "Faith alone," Seth means that your faith has justified you and that faith will inevitably lead to fruitful works. Seth refers to the thief on the cross where the thief was not baptized, the thief did not do good works, but Jesus said, "Today, you will be with Me in paradise." The thief's faith justified the thief as Jesus could see the thief's heart and Jesus knew that the thief's faith was genuine and the thief would have begun to do fruitful works if the thief was not being crucified.
Grace Alone (Sola Gratia) means that we are saved by the grace of God. Scripture is clear on Grace Alone. Seth does not see the need to go into detail on Grace Alone.
Christ Alone (Solus Christus) means that salvation is exclusively in Christ alone and Scripture is clear on Christ Alone.
Glory to God Alone (Soli Deo Gloria) means that all glory belongs to God alone. Glory to God Alone is a simple fact shown in hundreds of passages of Scripture. All glory exclusively belongs to God.
Seth believes in the Five Solas explained like the above.
-
Seth is not either Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, or Protestant as Seth's theology does not fit cleanly into either one. Seth could be seen as fundamentally Protestant due to the Five Solas, but Seth's theology is not cleanly in any three branches. Seth does align with different branches in different areas, but in a supermajority of the areas, Seth is more nuanced and strictly Scripture rather than trying to appeal to any branch or denomination.
-
Yes, Seth is an active church goer and has been since the age of 14. Seth does not simply go to church, but Seth serves within the church as well. Seth serves in the Worship ministry on a weekly-basis, in the Youth ministry as a Leader, and in the Outreach ministry in the musical areas for the events. Seth is at his church on Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and occasionally on Saturday's depending on the events that are occurring.
-
Seth is not associated with any political party. Seth is someone who does not care about politics in the sense of getting out to vote. Seth has opinions, but Seth simply goes off what Scripture says, not what any politician says. Seth has never voted in any election in Seth's life, and Seth has zero plans to ever vote.
-
Seth mostly uses the ESV Bible version due to the rigorous translation methodology of the ESV. Though, Seth has actually begun building his own Bible translation that will be more wooden than the ESV. Nevertheless, in the present, Seth currently uses the ESV as his main Bible version.
-
Seth has much more nuance than most ordinary people who answer this question. Seth believes that Scripture, texts that are genuinely true and inspired by the Spirit, are inerrant and infallible, while "Scripture" that is not true and not inspired by the Spirit tends to be errant and fallible. To help you better understand Seth's view on this, Seth believes Scripture is every piece of text inspired by the Spirit of YHWH.
-
Seth does not normally engage in formal debates, but Seth is an apologist and will defend the faith and sound doctrine from false teachers Seth comes across on the streets. However, you will not see Seth ranting on social media...at least anymore you won't. Seth used to be a major social media ranter about doctrine.
-
Seth has a very specific way to start and end each prayer. Seth begins each prayer with: "In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Spirit, O Father who is in heaven, hallowed by Your name. Let Your kingdom come and let Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and pardon us our debts as we pardon our debtors. And pardon us our sins for we ourselves pardon everyone who has sinned against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil and the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever," and Seth ends each prayer with: "Amen, we pray this to the Father, through the Son, and by the Spirit, let it be so."
Seth does not end prayers with Amen as Jesus never ended prayers with Amen, so Seth places Amen at the front of the end and ends with "let it be so."

Seth shares his beliefs publicly because Seth's beliefs are a part of who Seth is. Many people hide their beliefs, but Seth disagrees with hiding beliefs. What you believe is a part of who you are. Seth's Christian faith is in eternal union with Seth's identity for Seth is born-again by the Spirit. Seth's faith is public because private faith is no such thing. What you believe is who you are and that is why Seth shares his beliefs publicly. The matter is simple.
